In search of their maiden IPL title, Kings XI Punjab are leaving no stone unturned in the recruitments this year, even when it comes to hiring the support staff. At the helm of affairs is Anil Kumble, who needs no introduction to the cricketing world. He will be serving as the head coach and the director of operations for the franchise.
“The team we’ve managed to build is absolutely phenomenal. Each member of our support staff brings in a great deal of experience and insight that will help us reach the goals that we have set for 2020 here at Kings XI Punjab. I’m certain the team will hugely benefit from their collective experience,” said Kumble.
The former head coach for the England Cricket Team, Andrew Flower, will be the assistant coach of the Mohali-based outfit, as confirmed recently. He will further bolster the support staff of the team by bringing in his years of experience as a player and a coach.
Adding to the list is Jonty Rhodes as the team’s fielding coach this year. An all-time great fielder himself, Rhodes has the experience and craft to take the fielding levels of any s to a whole new different level. Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer, who recently retired from all forms of cricket, will take in charge as the batting coach for the franchise.
Next in line is Charl Langeveldt, who is the current bowling coach of the Bangladesh National Team. Langeveldt will be the bowling coach of the side for this season.
Fitness is one of the important aspects of modern-day cricket, and the man in charge will be Adrian Le Roux- who has extensive experience in the field due to his days with the Indian Cricket Team and IPL’s other franchises. He will be supported by Andrew Leipus as the physio, Abhijit Kar, and masseur Naresh Kumar.
Finally, the team will be managed by Avinaash Vaidhya, who will act as the General Manager of Cricket Operations for KXIP.
A reliable support staff sets up the foundation of the team for this year. The Kings are still looking for their first shot at the title and will be hopeful of getting it this year.
