We are headed towards Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Portland Trail Blazers at Oracle Arena on Thursday night. As anticipated, Warriors won the last game with a scoreline of 116-94.
For Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry led the team by pouring 36 points, six rebounds and seven assists which included nine 3-pointers, Klay Thompson contributed 26 while Draymond Green added 12 points along with ten rebounds and five assists. Warriors were missing the services of Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins. Also, Damian Jones made a comeback after a long time but was given only a couple minutes to play in which he scored 3 points.
Pick of the Game for Warriors: Draymond Green
The splash brothers will be ready for another slaughter at home, but if somehow one of them has a bad day, then Draymond Green will be an essential piece in the picture.
Green scored well in the last game and will be looking to play a broader role tonight. He notched a triple-double in the Game 3 against the Houston Rockets and will be expected to stand up again for the team tonight. I expect him to have another impacting game tonight.
On the other hand, for the Blazers, Damian Lillard scored 19 points and six assists alongside CJ McCollum, who contributed 17 points. With them, Harkless scored 17 points, and Enes Kanter added 10 points with 16 rebounds from his side. From the bench, Rodney Hood had 17 points.
Pick of the Game for Blazers: CJ McCollum
Damian Lillard is 7 out of 29 from the field in the last two games which also includes the iconic Game 7 against the Denver Nuggets. With Dame going through a rough patch, CJ stood up on occasion and dropped 37 points in Game 7 to seal a birth in the final. Moreover, we saw Damian holding his hamstring against the Warriors, which might force him to slow down on the offensive end.
I expect CJ to have another big game tonight with Dame relatively being calm again.
Predicted Starting Lineups:
Warriors: Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, Andrew Bogut, Stephen Curry & Klay Thompson
Blazers: Al Farouq Aminu, Maurice Harkless, Enis Kanter, Damian Lillard & CJ McCollum
The Warriors needed their sharpshooters to fire in Game 1, and they were not disappointed. Both Curry and Klay will be willing to continue the good work tonight.
The Blazers, on the other hand, will be a bit disappointed by their defensive effort as they let the Warriors have a lot of open looks. With that, Dame has not been firing for the last couple of games and has been seen holding the hamstring in the Game 1.
The Warriors will dominate tonight at home.
