The race of playoffs will be taking a fierce turn today as Mumbai Indians will be taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad who’ll be going all guns blazing to win this match at Wankhede Stadium.
In their previous meeting, Mumbai Indians thrashed Sunrisers by 40 runs at their home and will be looking to do the same this time. MI will be aiming to win this match and finish on the top two of the points table. On the other hand, SRH still needs to win both games to secure a position in playoffs.
Both the teams have met thirteen times before in the IPL and SRH has won seven out of 13 times. Mumbai will be looking to level up the numbers this time.
Mumbai Indians are currently at the third position on the table with seven wins out of 12 matches they played. They have looked a daunting side this season on the back of some fantastic performances. Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock have been giving good starts to the team up the order. With the inclusion of Even Lewis, the batting order looks more solid.
Hardik Pandya has been the star performer for the side so far. In the previous match, he went on to make 91 of just 34 balls which comprised of nine sixes and six fours.
The bowlers did go for a lot of runs in the last game but they have been decent overall. Rahul Chahar has been impressive with his spin, and so has Bumrah and Malinga with their death bowling.
Probable XI for MI
Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma, Even Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, Rahul Chahar, Barinder Sran.
Though SRH won their previous match against KXIP, it was also the last match for David Warner in this IPL season. With both the openers gone, who also apparently shared most runs scored for the team, SRH will be under enormous pressure to find a suitable replacement.
Martin Guptill is most likely to open the innings with Wridhiman Saha who looked good in the previous match against KXIP. Manish Pandey has been in great form lately and provides stability at number three.
Bowlers did an excellent job for SRH in the last match restricting KXIP under 170. Rashid Khan and Khaleel Ahmed are the critical bowlers for SRH.
Probable XI for SRH
Martin Guptill, Wridhiman Saha, Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Vijay Shankar, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Abhishek Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma.
Dream XI Prediction:
- Wicket-Keeper: Wridhiman Saha
- Batsmen: Rohit Sharma, Manish Pandey(VC), Suryakumar Yadav, Martin Guptill
- All-rounders: Hardik Pandya(C), Mohammad Nabi
- Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar, Rashid Khan, Khaleel Ahmed.
The average score at Wankhede is 165. It’s a massive ground, so spinners do come into play. Also being near to the sea the seamers might get some swing at the start of the innings. Mumbai Indians have only lost twice this season at their home ground so they’ll be looking to give SRH a tough outing.
