With bleak hopes of making it to the playoffs, the Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on the Rajasthan Royals at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangaluru. Both the teams are at the bottom of the table, RCB with eight points and RR with ten. Not only these teams have to win the rest of the games but also depend on the other results to go in their favour.
Royal Challengers are coming off a loss against the Delhi Capitals whereas Rajasthan Royals are on a 2-game winning streak and it will be interesting to watch these teams play in a do or die situation.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
RCB has flattered to deceive this season, and the bowling department is one of the main reasons for their poor performance. With Dale Steyn flying back because of a shoulder injury, RCB will be under immense pressure regarding filling in an overseas fast bowler.
The top order is the main strength of the team. Parthiv Patel has been getting runs for the team since the start and will be looking to do the same in the last two matches. Virat and ABD have also been in good form but need to be more gritty and consistent.
Mohammad Siraj has gone for a lot of runs this season, and he will probably miss this match. Tim Southee is a good option as an overseas fast bowler who can replace Steyn in the squad.
Probable XI for RCB
Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli, AB de Villers, Marcus Stoinis, Shirmon Hetymer, Gurkeerat Mann, Washington Sundar, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal.
The resurgent Rajasthan Royals have been on a roll lately, currently on a 2-game winning streak. Change in the leadership has worked for the Royals as Rahane has managed to stick to what he does the best, batting.
There have been encouraging signs in the bowling department as well with Oshane Thomas making his debut for the Royals. With him, Jaydev Unadkat has found his rhythm too and will be looking to strike some early blows in this game.
Shreyas Gopal will be the man under the limelight as he claimed the big-hitters of RCB the last time when these two teams met.
Probable XI for RR
Ajinkya Rahane, Liam Livingston, Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, Ashton Turner, Riyan Parag, Stuart Binny, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat, Oshane Thomas, Varun Aaron.
Dream XI Prediction:
- Wicket-Keeper: Parthiv Patel
- Batsmen: Virat Kohli (C), Ajinkya Rahane (VC), Liam Livingston, Gurkeerat Mann, AB de Villers
- All-rounders: Riyan Parag, Marcus Stoinis
- Bowlers: Shreyas Gopal, Oshane Thomas, Yuzvendra Chahal
This is a small ground and is one of the high scoring grounds in India. Batsmen love batting out in Chinnaswamy Stadium with bowl coming onto the bat so that we can expect a run-fest tonight.
Being at home, I expect the RCB to enjoy this game and put in a better effort than the Royals.
