It’s the Chennai Super Kings taking on the Mumbai Indians at their home ground Chepauk tonight. These two teams hold one of the biggest rivalries of IPL as both have won three championships each.
The last time these two sides battled against one other, MI defeated CSK by 37 runs, courtesy to the bowling department of MI. But this time it’s Chepauk, and CSK has not lost a home game yet.
The pitch at Chepauk has changed a lot from the one which was in the first match. The last game at this ground was a high scoring match though there was a bit of spin on the pitch.
Chennai Super Kings
In their last match, we encountered Shane Watson rediscovering his spark where he went on to score 97 of 53 balls. This would have relieved the CSK camp as the top order had not been performing well for the team. Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu also looked in solid touch pitching in some runs for the team.
The bowling department for CSK was not to the point in the previous match as all the spinners went for a lot of runs. Both Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh went for a combined 77 runs in their eight overs and took just two wickets.
CSK might play unchanged for the next match as Dhoni believes in going with the winning combination.
Probable XI for CSK
Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Kedhar Jadhav, MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Ravinder Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh.
Mumbai Indians will be coming back after a long break of six days. They still need to win at least a couple of games to make it into the playoffs, and they surely must have planned and strategised for it.
The strength for the MI lies in their reliable middle order, and it will be tested against the Chennai spinners. Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma have been consistently giving good starts to the team and will surely be looking to do the same.
Mayank Markande had a rough night in the previous game against RR and might miss this game, but seeing the pitch, MI might think of giving the youngster another chance.
Probable XI for MI
Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mayank Markande, Lasith Malinga, Jason Behrendorff.
Dream XI Prediction:
- Wicket-Keeper: Quinton de Kock
- Batsmen: Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav
- All-rounders: Krunal Pandya, Ravinder Jadeja, Hardik Pandya
- Bowlers: Rahul Chahar, Imran Tahir, Jasprit Bumrah
It’s going to be the clash of the spinners as the pitch is predicted to be a dry one for this match. Chennai being the favourites as they have played to the conditions perfectly, but seeing the batting power of the boys in blue they might give an upset to the host.
