The Brooklyn Nets pay a visit to the top seed and league-leading team this season, Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night at the Finserv Forum, Milwaukee.
The Bucks are coming from a victory against the Philadelphia 76ers where they won the road game by 128-122. As usual, Giannis led the Bucks team in scoring, finishing with 45 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in 35 mins of play time. He was well supported by Khris Middleton who scored 22 points along with George Hill who scored 20 points off the bench.
Brooklyn Nets, on the other hand, lost their last game to Toronto Raptors by 115-105. D’Angelo Russell had 27 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the game. Jarrett Allen scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds. DeMarre Carroll scored 12 points, and Spencer Dinwiddie scored 14 points off the bench.
Bucks are on fire lately and pretty much all season long. They have won 6 out of their last seven games and will be eyeing for a third straight win tonight against the Nets. Bucks hold a record of 59-20 this season and may be able to get their first 60 wins in a season since Kareem Abdul Jabbar. They will be the only team this season among all the NBA teams to get to 60 wins if they get a win in their next three games.
Bucks have a couple of injuries on the roster. Tony Snell who did not play in the last game against the Sixers due to an ankle injury, will remain questionable in this game too. Another one is Ersan Ilyasova, who also is questionable in the game against the Nets due to a nasal fracture.
The Nets seem to be out of touch lately as they have lost 4 of their last five games. Nets have performed well in the past against the teams that rank lower than them. But the results are otherwise when it comes to the top tier teams. The primary concern here seems to be the turnovers that they allow in the game. In the last game against the Buck on Tuesday, Nets committed 23 turnovers in the game with Russell having 6 of them and at least one turnover per player in that game. This gives a much smoother offence to the top seed Bucks. Nets are 4th in the NBA in committing turnovers this season.
The other areas where the Nets need to work on are increasing shooting percentage and increasing the points coming off the paint.
Predicted Starting Lineups:
Nets: D’Angelo Russell, Joe Harris, Rodions Kurucs, Jarrett Allen, and DeMarre Carroll
Bucks: Eric Bledsoe, Sterling Brown, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez
These two sides met some days ago at the Barclays Center where Nets faced a loss. They have met three times this season and Bucks have won each game with a difference margin of double digits every time and I don’t expect any upsets tonight, and the Bucks will rout ou the Nets.
