Wankhede Stadium will be hosting one of the biggest rivalries of IPL tomorrow, Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians. Both the teams have won the title three times each. However, the Mumbai Indians lead the Chennai Super Kings in head to head battle by 13-11.
Mumbai Indians travelled back from Mohali after losing to Kings XI by eight wickets. They have already lost 2 out of their three opening matches. MI is undoubtedly desperate for a win at this point of the tournament.
The openers have been performing well for the team by giving them good 50+ starts in their previous two matches. The only concern for the team is their middle order trio of Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, and Kieron Pollard who are not able to carry the momentum ahead in the innings.
Bowling has been up to the mark. Jasprit Bumrah has been exceptionally economical in the death overs. Also, with Behrendroff coming back into the side MI might think of trying him in place of Mitchell McClenaghan.
MI Probable XI:
Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard/ Ben Cutting, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah, Jason Behrendroff, Lasith Malinga.
Chennai Super Kings:
Chennai has been the most consistent side of this years’ IPL so far, winning all their three matches. They’ll be travelling to Wankhede from Chennai where they won against Rajasthan Royals, thanks to the captain MS Dhoni who scored 75 in 46 balls.
CSK will be concerned regarding the current form of Rayudu who has not been able to score since the last two matches. They might try out Faf du Plessis for Rayudu to open with Shane Watson.
CSK has a good bowling unit, but they have been going for runs in the death overs. Deepak Chahar has been the most economical pacer for CSK, but Dhoni bowls him out in first ten overs. Therefore, CSK might have to rethink on who should bowl the last 3-4 overs with Dwayne Bravo.
CSK Probable XI:
Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Kedhar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravinder Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Shardul Thakur/ Mohit Sharma.
Dream XI Predictions:
- Wicket-Keeper: Quinton de Kock
- Batsmen: Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Shane Watson, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh
- All- Rounders: Hardik Pandya, Dwayne Bravo
- Bowlers: Imran Tahir, J Behrendorff, Mayank Markande
CSK are behind MI head to head at Wankhede by 3-5. The pitch here will be a delight for the batsmen and considering the strong batting line-up of both the sides; we might get to see some big shots around the ground. Mumbai Indians might have the upper hand over CSK as CSK hasn’t played on such a pitch yet in this tournament.
MI to beat CSK.
