IPL has finally come to its northernmost venue Mohali where Kings XI Punjab will be taking on the Mumbai Indians. Both the teams have won and lost one match each and have the same points on the table. Mumbai Indians are coming from a spectacular win over Royal Challengers Bangalore whereas Kings XI Punjab lost their 2nd match to Kolkata Knight Riders and will be looking to be on the winning side again.
Both the teams have been playing some good cricket, and the same will be expected at Mohali as well. Jasprit Bumrah displayed his magic with the bowl at the death overs by only giving eight runs in 3 overs in the last match. We witnessed a glimpse of veteran Yuvraj Singh when he hit those three sixes in a row. For Kings XI, David Miller and Mayank Aggarwal scored 50 in the last match though they could win it for the Kings.
Mohali will be hosting its 1st match of this seasons IPL. Kings XI won all their games last season here in Mohali before moving to Indore. It would be a flat top at Mohali. Hard-rolled and flat which would be handy for the batsman. A high scoring match should be expected in Mohali.
Kings XI Punjab:
Kings XI looks a pretty well-settled side with a right combination of young Indian players and some foreign experience. The primary concerns for them will be finding the sixth bowler who can come and bowl a couple of overs in between. In both the matches, they have struggled to find the right bowling combination.
Also, KL Rahul has not been able to perform in both the matches. Kings XI expects a lot from the opener, and soon he has to find his form back.
The good point for Punjab is that all their other batsmen like Gayle, Sarfaraz, Miller, Mayank and Mandeep were among the run-getters in both the matches they played.
Punjab might think of bringing in Mujeeb for Varun as the new-comer went for a lot in the previous match which would also imply the Ankit Rajpoot will come in for Hardus Viljoen.
KXIP Probable XI:
KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Aggarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller, Mandeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mujeeb-ul-Rehman, Andrew Tye, Mohammad Shami, Ankit Rajpoot.
Mumbai Indians can be seen gaining momentum as the tournament progresses. Both the openers have been scoring decently. The middle order looks excellent and the bowling has been up to mark.
MI only had a day between the two matches which tells that they were not able to practice at Mohali which might be a disadvantage for them. The team has less time to adjust to the pitch and weather at Mohali. Yuvraj Singh has had a lot of memories here at this stadium, and it would be exciting to see how he performs at his home ground.
MI would not like to change their winning combination and should play with the same playing XI as in the previous match.
MI Probable XI:
Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Mitchell McClenaghan, Lasith Malinga, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah.
Dream XI Predictions:
- Wicket Keeper: Quinton de Kock
- Batsmen: Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, Mayank Aggarwal, David Miller, Suryakumar Yadav
- All-Rounders: Hardik Pandya
- Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Andrew Tye, Mayank Markande, Mujeeb-ul-Rehman
Mohali has always been a batting paradise for the teams, and the same is expected this time. Both sides have some outstanding and influential batsmen. So, we might witness a high scoring match here in Mohali.
There aren’t any chances of rain predicted. The bowl might spin slightly towards the end which might help the spinners.
