It’s Delhi Capitals taking on the Chennai Super Kings in the fifth game of the IPL at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. Both the teams won their respective matches and are riding high on confidence. While the Delhi Capitals’ batsmen rattled the Mumbai Indians’ bowling department, CSK’s bowlers demolished the RCB’s world-class batting lineup.
Both the teams look strong in all departments. Shikhar Dhawan and Colin Ingram looked in great touch in the last game. They were followed by Rishabh Pant whose firing innings of 78 in 27 balls was a treat to watch. The Bowling department equally stood up to the occasion with Kagiso Rabada being the most economical bowlers for DC. Also, Trent Boult and Ishant Sharma played an essential role in the side’s victory.
On the other hand, CSK bowlers dismissed RCB for a low score of 70 in just 17.4 overs. Though the pitch favoured the spinners, RCB’s batting just came tumbling down. Yes, CSK’s batting has not been tested yet, but both Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina looked in right touch.
Probable XI for DC:
Delhi might remain unchanged. Dhawan was exceptional in the last game, and the same will be expected from him tonight. Prithvi Shaw played a couple of great shots but got out playing a silly shot which he will be willing to bounce back from. Shreyas Iyer will come one-down and can use some time on the crease.
In the middle order, Colin Ingram, Rishabh Pant and Keemo Paul form a tight group which needs not much of a change for now.
Delhi will play Rahul Tewatia as he was exceptional on the field but might think of bringing in Hanuman Vihari or Amit Mishra for Axar Pate who was unimpressive.
The bowling department looks the best in the IPL for DC. Ishant Sharma, Trent Boult, and Kagiso Rabada were terrific in the last match picking up crucial wickets at right times.
Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Colin Ingram, Rishabh Pant, Keemo Paul, Axar Patel/Hanuman Vihari/Amit Mishra, Rahul Tewatia, Trent Boult, Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada.
Probable XI for CSK:
The previous game for CSK was played at home, and it was a spinner friendly wicket so Dhoni played both Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh which might not be the scenario at Feroz Shah Kotla.
Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu will open the innings for CSK followed by Suresh Raina. Watson went for a duck in the previous match so he’ll be under the radar for this match.
We might get to see Faf du Plessis making it into the playing XI in place for Imran Tahir if CSK doesn’t play both the spinners. With Faf coming in with MS Dhoni and Kedhar Jadhav it would strengthen their middle order.
CSK has two good all-rounders, Ravinder Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo, who would play as they can be the game changer with both bowl and bat.
The bowling department for CSK lacks experience. They should play Harbhajan over Tahir and Karn Sharma with two fast bowlers Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur.
