March 23 will mark the beginning of Vivo IPL 2019 when defending Champions Chennai Superkings take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
With two best batting line-up playing against each other, the IPL 2019 opener promises to be run-fest.
CSK has retained 23 players from its title-winning squad of IPL 2018 adding only two more players, Mohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaekwad. Since most of the team is unchanged, the team will require deft captainship from Captain Cool against the newly reshuffled franchises.
Batting has always been a strong point for CSK with the backing of players like Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav and Suresh Raina. A lot of the foreign players recently participated in PSL and BBL, and thus are in good form and ready to take on any opponent.
With the Ball, CSK has a lot of potential bowlers to choose from. While for Seamers CSK has Deepak Chahar, Mohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur, some excellent spinner options include Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja.
CSK predicted Playing XI:
Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Faf Du Plessis, Sam Billings, MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Harbhajan Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Mohit Sharma, Shardul Thakur
Royal Challengers Bangalore
RCB has plenty of batting strength in it’s squad, but still missing a stable opening batsman. RCB has always boasted off its expensive line-up which has failed to win any title for the franchise despite good individual performances.
Batting squad is led by the captain himself Virat Kohli assisted by AB de Villiers, Marcus Stoinis among others. Also, Shimron Hetmyer and Heinrich Klaseen are two players to watch out for this season.
Bowling is a section where RCB may lack a bit with Marcus Stoinis, Moeen Ali taking up job of All-rounders, while Washington Sundar and Yuzvenrda Chahal will be leading the spin attack.
Seamers seem to be the backhaul for Captain Kohli with Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee and Mohammad Siraj available.
RCB predicted Playing XI
Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel, AB de Villiers, Shimron Hetmyer, Akashdeep Nath, Marcus Stoinis, Shivam Dube, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal
