The Lakers’ chances of making it to the playoffs are looking bleak. The defeat at the hands of the New Orlean Pelicans came as another blow for the Lakers’ team and fans. The Pelicans were without Anthony Davis and Lakers had Lebron James on their side still, the Pelicans pulled off a victory at home.
Below is what Lebron James had to say after the defeat in New Orleans:
“I’m playing devil’s advocate, you know? It’s kind of a fine line when you talk about that, because when you’ve never been there or know what it takes to actually shoot for something like that, sometimes you’re afraid to get uncomfortable.”
Lebron’s frustration is genuine. He has never missed a playoff after his first two seasons in the NBA. Not making it to the playoffs this year will surely raise fingers on his legacy.
There are 23 games left for the Lakers this season, and out of these 23, 14 are against the opponents over .500. It will be a very tough road ahead for the Lakers, and with Lebron’s legacy at stake, it further escalates the pressure on the young squad. It will take a lot of heart for this young Lakers’ team to come out of this situation.
The team that was considered as one of the contenders at the start of the season is currently fighting for the 8th spot in the West. They have the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings above them on the rankings who have been impressive this season.
The Lakers’ Young Core has been disappointing this year leaving aside Kyle Kuma, who is the only player who has looked good. Lonzo ball is still out, and the recent reports suggest that he will be out for some more weeks.
The Lakers play the Grizzlies tonight and then will host the Pelicans again on Wednesday night. The road ahead looks tough for the Lakers, and there are high chances they might have to miss the playoffs.
The time has come the Lakers’ fans start realising that Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers can miss the playoffs this year, but it is never the end till its the end, they say.
