The biggest 20-20 league in the world, IPL is set to debut its 12th season on March 23. The most attended T20 league is a breeding ground for budding talent and continues to be an absolute source of entertainment to the audience worldwide. IPL 2008

Final Match: Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Superkings by three wickets

Orange Cap: Shaun Marsh(KXIP) – 616 runs

Purple Cap: Sohail Tanvir(RR)- 22 Wickets

Player of the Series: Shane Watson(RR)

Controversies:

  • Cheerleaders- the inclusion of foreign Cheerleaders stirred a controversy citing it as against Indian morals.
  • Sreesanth was slapped by Harbhajan Singh following which the latter was banned for 11 matches.

IPL 2009

Final Match: Deccan Chargers beat Royal Challenger Bangalore by six runs

Orange Cap: Matthew Hayden(CSK)- 582 runs

Purple Cap: R P Singh(DC)- 23 wickets

Player of the Series: Adam Gilchrist(DC)

Highlight: This season was held in South Africa due to clash with the 2009 General Elections.

IPL 2010

Final Match: Chennai Superkings beat Mumbai Indians by 22 runs

Orange Cap: Sachin Tendulkar(MI)- 618 runs

Purple Cap: Pragyan Ojha(DC)- 21 wickets

Player of the Series: Sachin Tendulkar(MI)

Highlight: It was the first cricket tournament in the world to be broadcasted live on Youtube garnering more than 200 million views.

IPL 2011

Final Match: Chennai Superkings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 58 runs

Orange Cap: Chris Gayle(RCB)- 608 runs

Purple Cap: Lasith Malinga(MI)- 28 wickets

Player of the Series: Chris Gayle(RCB)

Final Match: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Chennai Superkings by five wickets

IPL 2013

Final Match: Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Superkings by 23 runs

Final Match: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Kings XI Punjab by three wickets

Highlight: Withdrawal of Pune Warriors India, a part of the tournament was played in UAE due to clash with the General Elections 2014

IPL 2015

Final Match: Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Superkings by 41 runs

Orange Cap: David Warner (SRH)- 562 runs

Purple Cap: Dwayne Bravo (CSK)- 26 wickets

Player of the Series: Andre Russel (KKR)

Highlight: After the conclusion of IPL 2015, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Superkings were banned for two years due to Spot-fixing and betting scandal

IPL 2016

Final Match: Sunrise Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight runs

Orange Cap: Virat Kohli (RCB)- 973 runs

Purple Cap: Bhuvneshwar Kumar (SRH)- 23 wickets

IPL 2017

Final Match: Mumbai Indians beat Rising Pune Supergiants by one run

Highlight: Mumbai Indians became the 1st IPL team to win three titles.

IPL 2018
