Having won 3 IPL and 2 Champion league titles, CSK has the best history among all the IPL teams. It also has the largest fan base and is lead from the front by none other than great MS Dhoni.
CSK management was unable to play a significant role during the auction as they retained most of their squad. However, they did a value addition to their Indian pace attack by bringing back their old dependable bowler, Mohit Sharma.
There is no doubt that CSk can win this years’ IPL and below are the five reasons to support the notion.
1) Their home ground with quality spinners-
Last year they had to move out of M.A. Chidambaram stadium and shifted their home ground to Pune.
The pitch in Pune was not favouring their spin packed bowling side, but their batting line-up had all the flavours for the opposition.
With devastating batting performances of Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson at the top of the order, they managed to win the title last year.
Moreover, this year they are going to play at their home ground which is favourable for the spinners. The likes of Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell Santner & Ravinder Jadeja will be up for the task this time around.
2) Presence of best T-20 players in the likes of Dwayne Bravo & Shane Watson-
The most experienced side of the IPL has the two most experienced and the best T-20 players in the world, Dwayne Bravo and Shane Watson.
Played all around the globe, these players know how to handle every situation. Both the players will be itching to go back on the field for the men in yellow.
3) The new Rayudu version-
Last years’ IPL gave a new life to a man called Ambati Rayudu. We saw a completely different image of Rayudu in the previous season, and his performances helped him receive a call for the Indian National Team. He grabbed that opportunity with both hands and became a permanent No. 4 batsman in the Indian squad.
Rayudu showed fearlessness in his style of batting last year and expect him to be the same this time around.
4. Power packed middle order-
Let me jot down some of the names from the middle order of CSK- Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Sam Billings and Dwayne Bravo.
Yes, these massive names are game-changers and can single-handedly change the scenario of a game.
Raina has the maximum number of runs after Virat Kohli, and MSD-2.0 version was a topic of celebration last year also.
With finishing abilities of Jadhav, Billings and Bravo, getting over the line will not be a tough task for the CSK squad.
5. Their magical captain – MS Dhoni
One of the biggest achievers in cricketing history, MSD is not finished yet. He notched a man of the series award in Australia this year and will be looking to continue his form in the IPL as well.
His experience and Cricketing IQ make him one of the biggest weapons for the Chennai Super Kings. Also, he is near to breaking some impressive records this season and will be up for the task at hand.
