The Oklahoma City Thunder are on the road and are ready to face off against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center on Thursday night. OKC are coming off a 120-111 home win against the Portland Trail Blazers whereas the Pelicans lost to the Orlando Magic by 88-118.
Oklahoma City Thunder:
Thunder have been in an electrifying form winning 11 of their 12 games. Against the Blazers, Paul George led the pack with a thunderous performance notching a triple-double and finishing 47 points, 12 boards and ten assists. Westbrook too scored a triple-double, 9th straight, with 21 points, 14 boards and 11 assists.
The rest of the squad is equally supportive with Steven Adams and Terrance Ferguson in the starting line-up and Deonte Burton coming off the bench. Dennis Schroder is listed out for personal reasons while Jerami Grant is out for tonight.
“I’ve been blessed with the talent to not give a f***,” Westbrook said. “And I don’t, regardless of what happens.”
New Orleans Pelicans:
On the other hand, the Pelicans are going through a very rough patch winning only 3 of their last 11 matches. They lost their previous game to the Magic, putting up their lowest point total of the season.
With Anthony Davis out for 1-2 weeks due to a sprained left index finger, it will be daunting for the Pelicans to put up a fight against one of the hottest team in the league right now. Jrue Holiday and Julius Randle are putting up good numbers, but the rest of the team has been unimpressive.
Few Facts and Statistics:
- Pelicans Last 10: W-L 7-3
- Thunder Last 10: W-L 9-1
- Last Matchup on 25/1/2019: Pelicans 116 – Thunder 122
With all the trade rumours flocking around their star player Anthony Davis, it has a profound impact on the team, and they need to overcome this scenario if they still want to make it to the playoffs. Currently, they are at 13th in the Western Conference.
Thunder will beat the Pelicans tonight.
