With all the rumours flocking across the internet about Anthony Davis’ future, Klay Thompson and the Warriors also deserves some attention.
Klay Thomspon will be a free agent soon and so will be Kevin Durant. Both of them have been exceptional in the last season, winning a championship, and look to defend the title this season. However, one of them might have to leave the Warriors at the end of this season.
With Stephen Curry already given the super max deal, if the Warriors decide to offer Durant the same, then Klay will surely get less than what he deserves. This move will surely give Klay a push to think about leaving the Warriors’ team.
However, with Porzingis getting traded by the Knicks, and rising speculations of Kyrie and Durant duel in the New York, there are chances that Durant may leave the Warriors to join the New York Knicks. These are mere rumours but can happen in future.
However, Even if that happens, it will not affect Klay’s decision. He has said this before that he wants to stay with the Warriors no matter what, and this time he also mentioned that Durant’s decision does not affect his even by a small margin.
According to a tweet by Mark Medina, Klay wants to stay here and is expecting a max deal because of two reasons:
- His calibre as a player. We all know what he has done and can do in future for the team, so there is no doubt about it.
- Whatever money the Warriors will save if he gets a pay cut, will only reduce the luxury tax and will not help them sign another superstar.
Klay is an exceptional player and Warriors should offer him the max and keep him at Golden State. Durant’s decisions have been surprising and shocking in the past, but Klay is a straight forward guy who wants to play for a team for which he has given his sweat and blood. Moving him will only weaken the team.
