According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Klay Thompson might be interested in joining the Los Angeles Lakers next season. For this to happen, there should be two conditions met —Golden State Warriors does not offer a max deal to Thompson & Anthony Davis also gets traded to the Lakers.

After Anthony Davis asked for a trade, the New Orleans Pelicans issued a statement saying that they are open to all the offers and wants NBA to enforce the tampering rules strictly.

Let’s talk about Thompson’s scenario with the Warriors first. Klay Thompson has done a lot for the Golden State Warriors in the past years. He is one of the most deserving stars in the Warriors team for a Max deal this summer. However, with Kevin Durant also hitting the free agency as well as Draymond Green’s also dew in the coming future, the Warriors have to lose something after this season. If they offer anything less than a max deal to Thompson, he might consider parting with them.
Now, coming to Anthony Davis, his agent Rich Paul is also the agent of Lebron James. Moreover, considering Davis’ bonding with Lebron, there are very high chances of Davis landing up with the Los Angeles Lakers. For that, they will have to sacrifice the young core which they have built over the years.
If this trade assumption comes out to be right after this season, we will see another super team in the making. The Lakers will become the kings of the West and might dominate the NBA once again. The Warriors will also weaken with Klay leaving them, giving the Lakers a substantial advantage. Although it sounds exciting as a Lakers’ fan, for now, we can wait and watch.
